This beautiful wine comes from a 6-hectare parcel originally planted by the monks of the Cluny monastery around 910AD. This unique plot has soils rich with fossilised shells and many rare clones of Pinot Noir averaging 50 to 100 years in age, yielding fruit with great concentration and complexity. Aromatic and intense on the nose and palate, with characters of red summer fruit, violet and an earthy, textural quality that balances its wealth of fruit.

Among the best natural wines from France, from a family with three generations of experience with organic farming and winemaking without sulphur. Current winemaker Julien Guillot explains: "The vineyard has never had any chemicals used on it and has always been farmed with the greatest respect for the earth. From the very outset, my grandfather decided to make wine organically, using no chemicals, herbicides, pesticides or sulphur. My father, Alain kept the same philosophy. I joined the domaine in 1998, which is when I introduced the first biodynamic preparations. I then took over officially in 2001 and decided to convert the entire vineyard of seven hectares to biodynamic farming."

The Clos du Vignes du Maynes in Cruzille is very different to the majority of Burgundy producers working making wines that are vinified naturally with zero or minimal sulphur. They show a liveliness and the real characters of the terroir in Cruzille in the Mâconnais.
