Emmanuel Giboulot, Rully 1er Cru “La Pucelle” 6 Bottle Case 75cl
Equivalent Bottle Price £53.99
Terroir: Rully is an appellation, and a village, in the Côte Chalonnaise, with 23 climats classified as 1er Cru. The grapes that make Pucelle grow in gravelly clay-limestone soils with an eastern exposure, in front of the Chateau de Rully.
Vinification: The grapes are hand-harvested and pressed // Cold clarification over approximately 24 hours // The clarified must ferments in large and previously used old oak vats, to preserve its purity and minerality // Ageing for 18 months on its lees.
Farming organically was an obvious path for Emmanuel as he grew up watching his father doing it. When he struck out on his own, he did so with less than one hectare, adding gradually a plot here and a plot there. Ten years later, he had accumulated eleven hectares of vines, scattered over a few different appellations. Considered a pioneer of biodynamic farming in the region, Emmanuel’s wines are balanced, precise and elegant.
