Domaine du Roc des Boutires, Pouilly-Fuissé En Bertilionne 6 bottle case
Golden yellow in colour, this wine has a fragrant nose with aromas of apricot, peach and hints of fennel. The palate is refined with citrus and mineral graphite notes adding to the complexity of this wine that has a lovely saline character and a long mouthwatering finish.
The domaine has 4.2 hectares of Chardonnay planted across Pouilly and the surrounding villages. The grapes for this wine come from a 0.57 hectares plot of east-facing vineyards in the heart of the Pouilly village, right in front of the Roche de Solutré. The vines are 35 years old and are planted on limestone rich soils at 270 metres above sea level, a location which adds impressive freshness to the finished wines.
Domaine du Roc des Boutires has been owned by the Parinet family of Château du Moulin-à-Vent since 2016. They have injected energy and dynamism into this domaine and are now making outstanding wines. Situated in the heart of the Pouilly-Fuissé appellation, the domaine takes its name both from its proximity to the excellent ‘Aux Bouthières’ vineyard and the famous ‘Roche de Solutré’, a limestone escarpment which overlooks the commune of Solutré-Pouilly. ‘La Roche de Solutré’ is testament to the extraordinary geological richness of the surrounding vineyards and has become an emblem of the region. So impressive is its stature, the locals have nicknamed it the ‘Sphinx of the Mâconnais’.
