Contino Gran Reserva Magnum

Ruby red medium intensity. On the nose fruity and intense with hints of strawberry, blueberry, vanilla and a balsamic finish. On the palate it is round, velvety and full bodied.

All Contino wines are made from grapes exclusively grown on the 62 hectare estate located in Laserna, near the town of Laguardia in the Rioja Alavesa wine making region. This was the first single estate concept in the Rioja region and was established in 1973.

Rains were moderate yet stable during the whole winter. Rain continued into May and coupled with moderate temperatures meant the growth cycle was about 10 days ahead of the previous year. Spring and Summer were particularly dry with temperatures higher than the averages seen in previous years. September started with milder temperatures which permitted excellent phenolic maturation of grapes. Harvest began in mid September and continued until the end of October. The harvest yielded healthy high quality grapes.
