This is a wonderful example of the ‘Burgundy-vinosity’ character at Bollinger. La Grande Année Rosé has been a part of the Bollinger stable since the beginning, it is a unique blend between a great vintage champagne and the still red wine from the legendary 4 hectare monopole of Côte aux Enfants.
The 2012 is a gorgeous Pinot-focused blend of 67% Pinot Noir and 33% Chardonnay: The majority of the fruit is from Grand Cru vineyards (with the remainder from Premier Crus) – the Pinot is predominantly from Ay and Verzenay, and the Chardonnay from Cramant and Oger. Fermentation takes place in 100% small old oak barrels, aged for 7.5 years on its lees en magnumand still riddled by hand….
